Narrative:
Before takeoff in chicago, while still at the gate a smoke detector went off in one of the lavatories. Maintenance disabled the alarm. As we took off, the alarms in 3 more lavatories started going off. Then a smokey haze filled the cabin. The pilots immediately went back to land. We prepared for landing but didn't go through our emergency checklist, to prevent passenger from panicking. We landed without incident as the smoke had dissipated.
