Narrative:
Flight attendant in forward section of aircraft was assaulted by paid female passenger (around age 62) because he did not have her special meal order. Flight attendant was very polite and courteous explaining to the passenger why we did not have her meal. She went into a rage and called him foul names and grabbed and started shaking him/pushing. I know this flight attendant to be a very proper and well mannered person at all times. We had about 4 or 5 witnesses. I believe the public should be more informed about how to behave on an airplane and let them know what kind of authority/authorized flight attendants would have in case of disorderly and assault behaviors. The in-flight disturbance report was available and was very useful on this flight.
