Narrative:
While returning aircraft to maintenance base for 100 hour inspection under far part 91, I inadvertently overflew an airworthiness directive due to the fact that the airworthiness directives are due on the 100 hour inspection. I mistakenly understood that I would be able to use far 91.409 for the purpose of getting back to my maintenance base.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ATX PLT FLEW A C207 THAT WAS OVERDUE FOR A 100 HR INSPECTION TO A MAINT BASE. THE 100 HR LIMIT ON THE INSPECTION WAS WAIVED UNDER FAR PART 91 PT 409(B), BUT AN OVERDUE AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE ON THE ACFT COULD NOT BE WAIVED.
Narrative: WHILE RETURNING ACFT TO MAINT BASE FOR 100 HR INSPECTION UNDER FAR PART 91, I INADVERTENTLY OVERFLEW AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES ARE DUE ON THE 100 HR INSPECTION. I MISTAKENLY UNDERSTOOD THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO USE FAR 91.409 FOR THE PURPOSE OF GETTING BACK TO MY MAINT BASE.
