Narrative:
While reviewing the logbook in XXX, the captain and I noted a crew had performed a high speed abort the previous day. Maintenance at phoenix annotated in the log that a high energy stop inspection had been complied with, with no defects found. Upon arrival at XXX, the captain who was taking the aircraft from us informed my captain that our aircraft needed a new airworthiness sign-off. (He had been notified by maintenance duty control.) my captain and I assumed that the maintenance action performed following the abort found no reason to review the airworthiness inspection. My captain was advised by a chief pilot to submit a report. Admittedly, as a 2ND yr first officer, my logbook knowledge is not that great. In the future, I will question log entries which I'm not knowledgeable about.
