Narrative:
Given instructions to taxi to runup area at unfamiliar airport. Controller described 2 other aircraft in runup. Runup was on other side of runway 16 (small runway, looked like taxiway to me). Instructions were to hold short of runway 16. I crossed hold short lines. No conflict with other aircraft was experienced. Controller advised me that I had crossed at same time that I saw that I was crossing the hold short lines. Requires more attention on my part to avoid problems in future.

Title: SMA PLT RECEIVED AND ACKNOWLEDGED TAXI AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY INSTRUCTIONS. PLT, UNFAMILIAR WITH ARPT, INADVERTENTLY TAXIED ACROSS RWY TO RUNUP AREA. CTLR ADVISED PLT SIMULTANEOUSLY AS PLT RECOGNIZES ERROR.
Narrative: GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO TAXI TO RUNUP AREA AT UNFAMILIAR ARPT. CTLR DESCRIBED 2 OTHER ACFT IN RUNUP. RUNUP WAS ON OTHER SIDE OF RWY 16 (SMALL RWY, LOOKED LIKE TXWY TO ME). INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 16. I CROSSED HOLD SHORT LINES. NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT WAS EXPERIENCED. CTLR ADVISED ME THAT I HAD CROSSED AT SAME TIME THAT I SAW THAT I WAS XING THE HOLD SHORT LINES. REQUIRES MORE ATTN ON MY PART TO AVOID PROBS IN FUTURE.
