Narrative:
Just prior to the descent, a flight attendant came into the cockpit to mention a fluid leak found on the top left portion of the wing. Performed precautionary measures by shutting down the left engine before the descent phase of flight. Landed aircraft and notified maintenance. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a DC9-50 and the cause of the leak was a left wing upper surface tank plate which maintenance resealed and torqued, correcting the leak.
