Narrative:
The airplane was on takeoff roll. The airplane came to a smooth, complete stop. The emergency lights came on. The captain came on over the PA and advised us of what had happened. All passenger remained in their seats. The captain told the passenger that there would be buses coming to take them back to the terminal. We would get another aircraft and be on our way to san juan. The buses, along with the fire department, came. The passenger were loaded onto the buses. We, the crew, got off and went to operations (flight service), discussed the incident with flight service and we went to airplane to take same passenger to san juan. Supplemental information from acn 398549: captain made a PA saying trucks would be coming out to check us out. They saw no fire, we did not have to evacuate/evacuation. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the flight attendant stated that 3 tires had blown during the abort. She did not know what created the need for the abort. The air stairs that were brought up to the aircraft for deplaning had to be deiced with salt before the passenger could use them.
