Narrative:
Climbing out of sdf to assigned altitude of 10000 ft, as I contacted the center frequency I looked up and noticed the captain climbing through 10400 ft and called out 10400 ft. After receiving a frequency change to center frequency at 9500 ft, I noticed that the captain did not have the autoplt engaged. We immediately descended to 10000 ft and the new center controller asked if we were cleared to 14000 ft. I responded no, cleared to 10000 ft and then we were cleared to 14000 ft. No traffic was in the area and no TCASII TA's or RA's were heard.
