Narrative:
ATIS and landing clearance on runway 9R at ord instructed us to hold short of taxiway south at the end of the runway. We knew that when we accepted the clearance. Ord routinely clears aircraft to taxi via taxiway Q (past the end of runway 9R) and on taxiway south, which is part of runway 9R. In my opinion, this policy should be changed, because as we were rolling out we saw an airbus taxiing north on taxiway south across the end of runway 9R. This very much concerned me as the last thing you want to see out in front of your aircraft at 100 KTS is another jet right in front of you. Taxiway Q, no problem, but having ground control clear aircraft across the runway (runway 9R) while aircraft are landing is ludicrous!
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR ACFT RPTR CAPT NOT HAPPY WITH ANOTHER ACFT BEING CLRED ACROSS HIS LNDG RWY WHILE STILL AT 100 KTS. OTHER ACFT WAS XING NEAR END OF RWY.
Narrative: ATIS AND LNDG CLRNC ON RWY 9R AT ORD INSTRUCTED US TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY S AT THE END OF THE RWY. WE KNEW THAT WHEN WE ACCEPTED THE CLRNC. ORD ROUTINELY CLRS ACFT TO TAXI VIA TXWY Q (PAST THE END OF RWY 9R) AND ON TXWY S, WHICH IS PART OF RWY 9R. IN MY OPINION, THIS POLICY SHOULD BE CHANGED, BECAUSE AS WE WERE ROLLING OUT WE SAW AN AIRBUS TAXIING N ON TXWY S ACROSS THE END OF RWY 9R. THIS VERY MUCH CONCERNED ME AS THE LAST THING YOU WANT TO SEE OUT IN FRONT OF YOUR ACFT AT 100 KTS IS ANOTHER JET RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. TXWY Q, NO PROB, BUT HAVING GND CTL CLR ACFT ACROSS THE RWY (RWY 9R) WHILE ACFT ARE LNDG IS LUDICROUS!
