Narrative:

While in ZME airspace south of cgi on an approximately 350 degree heading, center gave us a 90 degree heading. We informed ATC we were unable to fly 090 degrees due to a thunderstorm. We told ATC we could change altitude or fly any heading other than east, but ATC said negative and informed us minimum separation could be less than required with traffic. Bottom line is that we could not fly the requested heading due to WX. Supplemental information from acn 399410: I later took a vector into part of the overhang.
