Narrative:
While on a ferry flight from florida to france, I landed in reykjavik, iceland. Upon departure from iceland, I was greeted by the caa while cranking my engine. A ramp check. Come to find out it is required that I need an overflt and landing permit for iceland. It is required that I carry a copy of the aircraft's insurance, and overweight takeoffs are not permitted in reykjavik -- even with a special ferry permit due to annex 8. Unfortunately I was unaware of these factors and did not have the correct paperwork. After receiving the correct paperwork via facsimile and draining some fuel, I went on my way. Today both my company and I, myself, am aware of the correct procedures and use them.
