Narrative:
After receiving our clearance from frankfurt ground control frequency 121.9, clearance informed us that we were cleared to 'start up and push' and to call apron on 121.85. We thought we had clearance to push and start engines and while pushing back we tried to contact apron control on 121.85 to keep him informed. There was no answer on 121.85, so we then tried 121.7 and they were unable to assist us on that frequency. We then went back to frequency 121.9, and they said to call apron on 121.95. On 121.95 apron control said we should have contacted them before we pushed and we did not have clearance to push. Apron said to always contact them first before pushing back. Supplemental information from acn 399374: were told to go to 121.95 where we were chastised for moving the aircraft without clearance. Apparently we caused a B737 behind us to wait for us to taxi.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B767-300 PUSHES BACK FROM A GATE POS INTO THE APRON AREA WITHOUT PUSHBACK CLRNC. THE FO COPIED THE WRONG FREQ FOR THE APRON CTLR.
Narrative: AFTER RECEIVING OUR CLRNC FROM FRANKFURT GND CTL FREQ 121.9, CLRNC INFORMED US THAT WE WERE CLRED TO 'START UP AND PUSH' AND TO CALL APRON ON 121.85. WE THOUGHT WE HAD CLRNC TO PUSH AND START ENGS AND WHILE PUSHING BACK WE TRIED TO CONTACT APRON CTL ON 121.85 TO KEEP HIM INFORMED. THERE WAS NO ANSWER ON 121.85, SO WE THEN TRIED 121.7 AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST US ON THAT FREQ. WE THEN WENT BACK TO FREQ 121.9, AND THEY SAID TO CALL APRON ON 121.95. ON 121.95 APRON CTL SAID WE SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED THEM BEFORE WE PUSHED AND WE DID NOT HAVE CLRNC TO PUSH. APRON SAID TO ALWAYS CONTACT THEM FIRST BEFORE PUSHING BACK. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 399374: WERE TOLD TO GO TO 121.95 WHERE WE WERE CHASTISED FOR MOVING THE ACFT WITHOUT CLRNC. APPARENTLY WE CAUSED A B737 BEHIND US TO WAIT FOR US TO TAXI.
