Narrative:
After rotation, left engine failure. Aircraft was handled in accordance with company procedures. Emergency was declared and aircraft was flown back to runway 3L at dtw. Emergency crews checked for damage and fire. Taxied back to gate and deplaned passenger. Airport auths found debris on runway 3C which was our departure runway.

Narrative: AFTER ROTATION, L ENG FAILURE. ACFT WAS HANDLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH COMPANY PROCS. EMER WAS DECLARED AND ACFT WAS FLOWN BACK TO RWY 3L AT DTW. EMER CREWS CHKED FOR DAMAGE AND FIRE. TAXIED BACK TO GATE AND DEPLANED PAX. ARPT AUTHS FOUND DEBRIS ON RWY 3C WHICH WAS OUR DEP RWY.
