Narrative:
During approach to dfw runway 17C, approach control cleared us 3000 ft and 270 degree heading. Approach then asked if we had the preceding fokker in sight. We replied that we did not. Approach left us on that heading and got busy with other traffic. Approach then sent us to tower while still on a 270 degree heading. About the same time we got a TCASII RA to descend. We complied with the RA, turned to a heading of 130 degrees, and contacted tower and landed without further incident.

Title: LOSS OF SEPARATION BTWN 2 ACR MD80'S AT 3000 FT.
Narrative: DURING APCH TO DFW RWY 17C, APCH CTL CLRED US 3000 FT AND 270 DEG HDG. APCH THEN ASKED IF WE HAD THE PRECEDING FOKKER IN SIGHT. WE REPLIED THAT WE DID NOT. APCH LEFT US ON THAT HDG AND GOT BUSY WITH OTHER TFC. APCH THEN SENT US TO TWR WHILE STILL ON A 270 DEG HDG. ABOUT THE SAME TIME WE GOT A TCASII RA TO DSND. WE COMPLIED WITH THE RA, TURNED TO A HDG OF 130 DEGS, AND CONTACTED TWR AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
