Narrative:
Location: ord ground. Upon leaving gate, received taxi instructions to 'taxi to runway 32L T10' intersection via 'taxiway M2, taxiway M, taxiway T.' during taxi, realized we had missed taxiway T (although neither myself nor first officer are sure that the sign is there). After crossing southeast end of runway 32L, we called ground and were given further instructions to runway 32L, intersection T10. Additional facts: 1) never caused traffic problems. 2) neither myself nor first officer remember seeing 'T' sign while on taxiway M. Contributing factors: 1) captain was on third consecutive high speed. 2) taxi route not one consistently used for runway 32L T10. 3) first officer was running checklist. Final comment: after receiving taxi instructions, I (captain) visualized route and began taxi. I am very familiar with runway 32L T10 but not particular taxi route (taxiway M2, taxiway M, taxiway T). Better use of ord commercial taxi chart would have prevented this situation.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A TAXIING LTT COMMUTER CROSSES RWY 32L WHEN THE PIC MISSES THE TURN TO TXWY T FOR AN INTXN T10 TKOF, RWY 32L.
Narrative: LOCATION: ORD GND. UPON LEAVING GATE, RECEIVED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO 'TAXI TO RWY 32L T10' INTXN VIA 'TXWY M2, TXWY M, TXWY T.' DURING TAXI, REALIZED WE HAD MISSED TXWY T (ALTHOUGH NEITHER MYSELF NOR FO ARE SURE THAT THE SIGN IS THERE). AFTER XING SE END OF RWY 32L, WE CALLED GND AND WERE GIVEN FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS TO RWY 32L, INTXN T10. ADDITIONAL FACTS: 1) NEVER CAUSED TFC PROBS. 2) NEITHER MYSELF NOR FO REMEMBER SEEING 'T' SIGN WHILE ON TXWY M. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 1) CAPT WAS ON THIRD CONSECUTIVE HIGH SPD. 2) TAXI RTE NOT ONE CONSISTENTLY USED FOR RWY 32L T10. 3) FO WAS RUNNING CHKLIST. FINAL COMMENT: AFTER RECEIVING TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, I (CAPT) VISUALIZED RTE AND BEGAN TAXI. I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH RWY 32L T10 BUT NOT PARTICULAR TAXI RTE (TXWY M2, TXWY M, TXWY T). BETTER USE OF ORD COMMERCIAL TAXI CHART WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS SIT.
