Narrative:
I was testing the autoplt's ability to track the GS of runway 32. The tower requested I hold short of runway 20. I then realized my airspeed was 100 KTS -- 25 KTS faster than final approach speed. I landed long and attempted to stop with heavy braking. The airplane stopped on the intersection of runway 32 and runway 20, violating the tower's instructions. The right main tire blew and the plane had to be towed off the runway! I should not have let the autoplt testing detract from the business of landing. Knowing I was too fast to comfortably hold short of runway 20, I should have gone around.
