Narrative:
ATC facility: stl approach. Location: csx/070/8. On the vandalia 3 arrival as PF I erred in following the commercial chart STAR for reference and deviated north of the assigned course. ATC had to vector us on the approach as a result. Although I had reviewed and underscored the message which changed the arrival, while using the commercial chart for reference we deviated west of the assigned course: the csx 250 inbound to 8 DME, then right 300 degrees. The commercial chart is significantly off course, as is the aircraft database. As stated, the intxns are unusable. The commercial chart page ought to be pitched. While the database headings appeared to be on course, the entire STAR in the FMC NDB is also unusable. I attribute this navigation error to being over-tired. I have been feeling pretty worn out lately. The message about the STAR was clear, I can't think of any reason why I should have missed it. It was certainly unintentional. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that any unusual information beyond the normal clearance is issued by dispatch and it was indeed listed below the clearance but the captain failed to brief the information. Both he and the first officer missed the amendment. A radial had been changed and a new fix established. ATC vectored them to the correct position. Reporter checked his current revisions and commercial chart maker has not received any request to update the STAR. Supplemental information from acn 403784: we received a revised clearance prior to departure from O'hare clearing us for the vandalia 3 arrival even though commercial chart vla 3 was unusable (our original clearance had no STAR). If it was known by dispatch and ATC that the commercial chart STAR was unusable why would we be cleared for it, especially with a bogus navigation database?

Title: FLC OF F100 FOLLOWS ARR ROUTE EVEN THOUGH ALERTED TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS CHANGED. ATC ISSUED VECTORS.
Narrative: ATC FACILITY: STL APCH. LOCATION: CSX/070/8. ON THE VANDALIA 3 ARR AS PF I ERRED IN FOLLOWING THE COMMERCIAL CHART STAR FOR REF AND DEVIATED N OF THE ASSIGNED COURSE. ATC HAD TO VECTOR US ON THE APCH AS A RESULT. ALTHOUGH I HAD REVIEWED AND UNDERSCORED THE MESSAGE WHICH CHANGED THE ARR, WHILE USING THE COMMERCIAL CHART FOR REF WE DEVIATED W OF THE ASSIGNED COURSE: THE CSX 250 INBOUND TO 8 DME, THEN RIGHT 300 DEGS. THE COMMERCIAL CHART IS SIGNIFICANTLY OFF COURSE, AS IS THE ACFT DATABASE. AS STATED, THE INTXNS ARE UNUSABLE. THE COMMERCIAL CHART PAGE OUGHT TO BE PITCHED. WHILE THE DATABASE HDGS APPEARED TO BE ON COURSE, THE ENTIRE STAR IN THE FMC NDB IS ALSO UNUSABLE. I ATTRIBUTE THIS NAV ERROR TO BEING OVER-TIRED. I HAVE BEEN FEELING PRETTY WORN OUT LATELY. THE MESSAGE ABOUT THE STAR WAS CLR, I CAN'T THINK OF ANY REASON WHY I SHOULD HAVE MISSED IT. IT WAS CERTAINLY UNINTENTIONAL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT ANY UNUSUAL INFO BEYOND THE NORMAL CLRNC IS ISSUED BY DISPATCH AND IT WAS INDEED LISTED BELOW THE CLRNC BUT THE CAPT FAILED TO BRIEF THE INFO. BOTH HE AND THE FO MISSED THE AMENDMENT. A RADIAL HAD BEEN CHANGED AND A NEW FIX ESTABLISHED. ATC VECTORED THEM TO THE CORRECT POS. RPTR CHKED HIS CURRENT REVISIONS AND COMMERCIAL CHART MAKER HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY REQUEST TO UPDATE THE STAR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 403784: WE RECEIVED A REVISED CLRNC PRIOR TO DEP FROM O'HARE CLRING US FOR THE VANDALIA 3 ARR EVEN THOUGH COMMERCIAL CHART VLA 3 WAS UNUSABLE (OUR ORIGINAL CLRNC HAD NO STAR). IF IT WAS KNOWN BY DISPATCH AND ATC THAT THE COMMERCIAL CHART STAR WAS UNUSABLE WHY WOULD WE BE CLRED FOR IT, ESPECIALLY WITH A BOGUS NAV DATABASE?
