Narrative:
I did my walkaround a few mins before pushback, and as the passenger bridge moved back from aircraft I looked under the aircraft and saw that it was clear. I got in the tractor, captain had clearance to push back already, requested brakes off and started push. I had just given captain clearance to start engines when I felt a soft slow down of aircraft. I looked between fuselage and #1 engine and saw the truck on its side behind aircraft. I put on brakes and told captain we had hit a food service truck. Note: while in the tractor, visibility is restr because you cannot see under aircraft -- fuselage covers most of your field of vision. So far, air carrier will not add a guide man behind aircraft for safety and to prevent this. There is a 15-30 second time period while you're in tractor before pushback that we have to cause an accident as above!
