Narrative:
Reporter and student pilot were practicing lndgs in closed pattern at uncontrolled field (evy). We reported downwind and a second plane reported downwind. We reported downwind, midfield and the other plane reported downwind, midfield. At that point, I spotted the second plane, gaining on us in the pattern and between our plane and the runway. We deviated our course to the right, to give the other plane room to land, while we tried to figure out where it came from.
