Narrative:
During leveloff at FL310, 275 KIAS, the power was reduced from climb EPR, 2.11 to cruse EPR, 1.86. #1 engine had a compressor stall. Abnormal procedures were accomplished, followed by normal engine operation. During engine inspection at msy we found an 18 inch piece of rubber which apparently came from the left leading edge device. The main point of this debrief is to document another problem shortly after a major inspection. I do not consider myself a test pilot. This was the 5TH flight since coming back from maintenance. These problems should have been discovered earlier by maintenance or during the flight test.

Title: B727 CREW HAD A COMPRESSOR STALL IN #1 ENG. FOD FROM A DEICING BOOT ON L WING.

DURING ENG INSPECTION AT MSY WE FOUND AN 18 INCH PIECE OF RUBBER WHICH APPARENTLY CAME FROM THE L LEADING EDGE DEVICE. THE MAIN POINT OF THIS DEBRIEF IS TO DOCUMENT ANOTHER PROB SHORTLY AFTER A MAJOR INSPECTION. I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF A TEST PLT. THIS WAS THE 5TH FLT SINCE COMING BACK FROM MAINT. THESE PROBS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED EARLIER BY MAINT OR DURING THE FLT TEST.
