Narrative:
Last IFR leg of the night, autoplt autohold, altitude hold disengaged at 10000 ft MSL, action was taken to recover 500 ft altitude loss. Recovery started before controller called our altitude setting. Factors: complacency, trusting autoplt, last leg, fatigue. (Always double check autoplt functions for proper response.)

Title: FO OF A LEARJET 35A DSNDED OFF ASSIGNED ALT DUE TO AUTOPLT HOLD RELEASED WITHOUT RPTR REALIZING IT. ONCE OBSERVED, HE IMMEDIATELY CLBED BACK TO ASSIGNED ALT.
Narrative: LAST IFR LEG OF THE NIGHT, AUTOPLT AUTOHOLD, ALT HOLD DISENGAGED AT 10000 FT MSL, ACTION WAS TAKEN TO RECOVER 500 FT ALT LOSS. RECOVERY STARTED BEFORE CTLR CALLED OUR ALT SETTING.
