Narrative:

On landing burbank runway 8, #3 main landing gear tire blew somewhere below 120 KTS on deceleration. 'Wheel not turning' light illuminated momentarily, indicating a disparity in wheel rotation. By the time aircraft was stopped, it was not necessary to shut off anti-skid to continue deceleration. Tower and flight attendant reported loud pop or bang. Aircraft stayed on centerline to full stop, with no loss of controllability. We asked tower status of tires. Because they said the outboard tire looked ok, we turned off only to clear active runway, then stopped. Brake temperature only reached 180 degrees before cooling. Anti-skid switch tested ok. All engine parameters were normal during rollout. The pop that was reported by the aft flight attendants was definitely idented as tires. Forward flight attendant reported hearing nothing unusual.

Title: AN MD82 LNDG AT BUR BLOWS A #3 TIRE ON ROLLOUT. PIC STOPS ACFT ON TXWY FOR EVALUATION.

Narrative: ON LNDG BURBANK RWY 8, #3 MAIN LNDG GEAR TIRE BLEW SOMEWHERE BELOW 120 KTS ON DECELERATION. 'WHEEL NOT TURNING' LIGHT ILLUMINATED MOMENTARILY, INDICATING A DISPARITY IN WHEEL ROTATION. BY THE TIME ACFT WAS STOPPED, IT WAS NOT NECESSARY TO SHUT OFF ANTI-SKID TO CONTINUE DECELERATION. TWR AND FLT ATTENDANT RPTED LOUD POP OR BANG. ACFT STAYED ON CTRLINE TO FULL STOP, WITH NO LOSS OF CONTROLLABILITY. WE ASKED TWR STATUS OF TIRES. BECAUSE THEY SAID THE OUTBOARD TIRE LOOKED OK, WE TURNED OFF ONLY TO CLR ACTIVE RWY, THEN STOPPED. BRAKE TEMP ONLY REACHED 180 DEGS BEFORE COOLING. ANTI-SKID SWITCH TESTED OK. ALL ENG PARAMETERS WERE NORMAL DURING ROLLOUT. THE POP THAT WAS RPTED BY THE AFT FLT ATTENDANTS WAS DEFINITELY IDENTED AS TIRES. FORWARD FLT ATTENDANT RPTED HEARING NOTHING UNUSUAL.
