Narrative:

I was notified by crew scheduling that I have flown 36 hours and 17 mins in the last 7 days, maximum allowed is 34 hours. I was pulled off line and a reserve captain finished the trip. After asking the chief crew scheduler if they have a way to prevent this from happening in the future, I was told that every morning before the crews start their shifts, crew scheduling runs a legality report to make sure that everybody is legal to fly, however that morning they were too busy and the legality report was not done until XA00, and that's when they found about my situation.
