Narrative:

In-flight turbulence. Normal departure. First officer was hand flying the aircraft. Climbing out of FL180 10 NM west of eon VOR in IMC conditions the WX radar on and no WX returns. No reports of turbulence from center or other aircraft. We encountered about 5 seconds of moderate turbulence. Flight attendant was standing in the aft galley and apparently hit the ceiling and fell to the floor. She then complained of back and leg pain. Passenger in seat XXX came out of her seat when her seat belt apparently came unhooked from the seat. Passenger complained of pain on her left slide. Returned to ord, landed at YY06Z. Arrived at gate at YY10Z. Aircraft was met by paramedics. Flight attendants and passenger were transported to hospital. Condition unknown. Supplemental information from acn 409293: the aircraft was climbing at approximately 300 KTS in the clouds. The radar was in WX/T and no returns were showing at or near the area where the turbulence was encountered. Turbulence was not associated with the tops or bottoms of this WX. Seat belt sign was on and no chop was either reported or experienced until this isolated encounter.in-flight turbulence. Normal departure. First officer was hand flying the aircraft. Supplemental information from acn 409392: approximately 15 mins after takeoff, flight experienced a sudden drop. I was the purser seated in the forward r-hand jump seat. I called to the back of the aircraft to see if everyone was alright. A deadheading flight attendant answered the interphone and informed me that a passenger had falled into the aisle and a flight attendant had hit the ceiling in the back galley. I informed the captain and he made the decision to return to ord.
