Narrative:
Passing 10500 ft in the descent to 10000 ft for crossing gland intersection, we received a TCASII TA followed rapidly by an RA (climb at 3500 FPM) required, we pitched up and added power and climbed to about 11500 ft before TCASII advised clear of conflict. TRACON advised traffic was VFR and not in radio contact. First officer was monitoring TCASII display and said if we hadn't acted immediately, we would have hit whatever it was.
