Narrative:
I am filing this report as I have been informed that the wrong 'dash' number slat may have been installed on aircraft xyz when it was OTS in ZZZ. I first worked aircraft xyz at XA00 on jul/xy/98, taking the turnover from XA30 shift. At that time, #9 and #10 slats were installed on wing. The parts tags having previously been filled out and placed with the slat in the shipping container. I performed the required inspection item on the final installation and rigging. At no time did anything seem unusual. The slats fit and faired perfectly. The tolerances were well within maintenance manual limits and the proximity test showed no faults during bite check. In the future I will be back checking all dash number effectivities. I would suggest that all slat outboard assemblies be plainly placarded -200 or -300 as wheel assemblies now are.
