Narrative:

IFR takeoff from crw runway 5. We were given a 360 degree heading to intercept V115 from hvq to gayed intersection. We were also given a frequency change in the same transmission. In the confusion, did not arm the navigation mode, and failed to intercept the 019 degree radial or V115. We did not realize our mistake until 7 mi left of course. We turned back to course and were subsequently cleared direct to air. No traffic conflicts were noted.
