Narrative:
XX00, lhr ground control, lhr gate. Arrived lhr after dark around XX00. After landing, received a gate change. Arrived in the gate area and no guide man or lighting system available. As we were stopping to await assistance, a white truck with flashing yellow lights sped around corner into the gate area. Individual exited the truck and immediate turned on the self parking light system, then walked away from the switch. From then on, my attention was focused on the alignment bars and in the stopping area of the stop bar. After parking, noticed a man in front of the aircraft waving his arms in a stop signal. He had no wands or lights or any kind. The alignment bars and stop bar were still illuminated. We were told by operations we had struck a truck. Never saw the truck or felt any impact. Later inspection revealed left engine had struck panel truck parked in the area near the jetbridge and the aircraft was parked correctly on centerline and on proper stop mark.
