Narrative:

First flight in a yr in spitfire mark 18 wwii 2500 hp. Took off on runway 27 fraser field, C16, to check out aircraft and for pilot refresher. While checking out a radio problem, I inadvertently entered willard airport's (cmi) class C airspace. I should have been over 10 NM but came within 9.3 NM from the center of the champaign airspace. I was at 3200 ft MSL. At this distance I should have been below 2400 ft MSL. I was told that there was a near miss with a piper arrow, of approximately 200 ft. I should have remained well clear of willard's class C airspace while working out the radio problem (C16 is 7.2 mi northeast of willard, cmi).
