Narrative:
Being vectored at 220 degree radial, 15 mi for shore visual runway 13L, new york approach called traffic at 2500 ft MSL (unverified) at 12 O'clock, and told us to turn to 050 degrees and climb to 3500 ft. Immediately after vector, TCASII showed TA followed by RA. Disconnected autoplt and autothrottles and followed climb prompt. Visually saw cessna fly underneath us. He appeared to be climbing. TCASII showed -100 ft. Filed near miss with new york approach.

Narrative: BEING VECTORED AT 220 DEG RADIAL, 15 MI FOR SHORE VISUAL RWY 13L, NEW YORK APCH CALLED TFC AT 2500 FT MSL (UNVERIFIED) AT 12 O'CLOCK, AND TOLD US TO TURN TO 050 DEGS AND CLB TO 3500 FT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER VECTOR, TCASII SHOWED TA FOLLOWED BY RA. DISCONNECTED AUTOPLT AND AUTOTHROTTLES AND FOLLOWED CLB PROMPT. VISUALLY SAW CESSNA FLY UNDERNEATH US. HE APPEARED TO BE CLBING.
