Narrative:
We were in a C172 ready to taxi to runway 22 at tyler at night. Tower was closed, so we were using CTAF. I called every move I was about to do. Winds were calm and an airplane landed about 30 mins before we departed on runway 13. I called that I was on the active for runway 22 and will leave the pattern to the west to ftw. Upon 200-300 ft of the intersection we were in the air, suddenly I look to my right and I saw a big light on final. After a couple of seconds, I looked in the back and saw that it was an airplane that just landed. I swear, I never heard a thing on the radio. I think the FAA should keep the tower open until the last commuter lands to avoid this type of situation which could be deadly!
