Narrative:

LR23, being flown by copilot, was being vectored by louisville approach for an arrival, IFR in VMC, to sdf. LR23 was told to descend from 7000 ft MSL to 5000 ft MSL. At 5800 ft, during the descent, ATC advised 'traffic 12 O'clock, 5500 ft.' we, the crew, did not see traffic because of haze until evasive action was necessary to avoid collision. If the crew had not taken evasive action, a midair would have occurred. We advised ATC of the problem and were informed he was busy and had a lot of traffic. LR23 was traveling at 250 KIAS.
