Narrative:
Flight xyz aircraft YYY lost left hydraulic system on takeoff immediately following gear retraction. Fluid lost through nose wheel well. Made normal landing at flaps 20 degrees setting after completing hydraulic system failure checklist. Extended landing gear and flaps by means of alternate system. Emergency was not declared. Aircraft was towed to the gate by maintenance personnel after landing as nosewheel steering was lost. The biggest distraction was ATC's incessant and mostly unnecessary questions, such as 'do you need to dump fuel?' I was asked this question at least 3 times. We were very busy completing required checklists and repeatedly had to politely inform ATC that we would advise them when we would be returning for landing. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter said this is the third occurrence of loss of the left hydraulics from the nose gear components. The reporter said this incident was caused by a failed flexible hydraulic pressure hose on the gear actuator or the nose gear door actuator. The reporter stated the exact hose function was not known but it was a hose in 1 of the 2 actuators.

Title: A B757-200 IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF WHEN LNDG GEAR RETRACTED LOST THE L HYD SYS PRESSURE AND QUANTITY DUE TO A FAILED NOSE GEAR FLEXIBLE HOSE.
Narrative: FLT XYZ ACFT YYY LOST L HYD SYS ON TKOF IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING GEAR RETRACTION. FLUID LOST THROUGH NOSE WHEEL WELL. MADE NORMAL LNDG AT FLAPS 20 DEGS SETTING AFTER COMPLETING HYD SYS FAILURE CHKLIST. EXTENDED LNDG GEAR AND FLAPS BY MEANS OF ALTERNATE SYS. EMER WAS NOT DECLARED. ACFT WAS TOWED TO THE GATE BY MAINT PERSONNEL AFTER LNDG AS NOSEWHEEL STEERING WAS LOST. THE BIGGEST DISTR WAS ATC'S INCESSANT AND MOSTLY UNNECESSARY QUESTIONS, SUCH AS 'DO YOU NEED TO DUMP FUEL?'
