Narrative:
Inbound to ord, approximately 10 NM west of jvl, I noticed a very faint odor coming from the gasper outlet. The first flight attendant then came to the cockpit and reported that passenger reported smelling something like smoke. The first flight attendant reported that she did not see or smell anything. We immediately checked all circuit breakers and found none popped. As a precaution, I turned off the gasper fan and discussed the situation with the first officer. We considered declaring an emergency, but there was no smoke, no warnings, and no further reports of smoke, fumes or odor. We reviewed the quick reference checklist for smoke, fumes and odor, but because there was no smoke, fumes or odor, no further action was required. At this point, we were on a right base for runway 22R at ord. Landed normally. Dispatch was called to arrange to have a maintenance supervisor meet the flight.
