Narrative:
Our approach briefing for landing at pdx was for an ILS runway 28R. After descent to 3000 ft, we were asked to report the 'paper mill.' we did so several mi east and were cleared for the 'mill visual' approach. We were also advised of traffic we were following on the approach. I had difficulty locating the next check points (power lines and radio antenna) but we were on the correct heading and 5 mi out had the runway in sight. On switching over to tower, we were cleared to land, I believe, on runway 28R, which is what I believe I read back. On short final, the local controller reclred us to land on runway 28R, which we did so without incident. After landing, I was not clear as to whether we were cleared to follow the traffic to runway 28L (from approach) or tower, or if we were even assigned a runway from approach. There was no conflict and we were cleared to land on runway 28R, but I think I was not either advised or certain to which runway we were cleared to land.

Title: A WDB FLC MAKES AN APCH TO PDX, ONLY TO LAND AND NOT BE CERTAIN IF THEY WERE CLRED TO LAND ON THE RWY THEY DID.
Narrative: OUR APCH BRIEFING FOR LNDG AT PDX WAS FOR AN ILS RWY 28R. AFTER DSCNT TO 3000 FT, WE WERE ASKED TO RPT THE 'PAPER MILL.' WE DID SO SEVERAL MI E AND WERE CLRED FOR THE 'MILL VISUAL' APCH. WE WERE ALSO ADVISED OF TFC WE WERE FOLLOWING ON THE APCH. I HAD DIFFICULTY LOCATING THE NEXT CHK POINTS (PWR LINES AND RADIO ANTENNA) BUT WE WERE ON THE CORRECT HDG AND 5 MI OUT HAD THE RWY IN SIGHT. ON SWITCHING OVER TO TWR, WE WERE CLRED TO LAND, I BELIEVE, ON RWY 28R, WHICH IS WHAT I BELIEVE I READ BACK. ON SHORT FINAL, THE LCL CTLR RECLRED US TO LAND ON RWY 28R, WHICH WE DID SO WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER LNDG, I WAS NOT CLR AS TO WHETHER WE WERE CLRED TO FOLLOW THE TFC TO RWY 28L (FROM APCH) OR TWR, OR IF WE WERE EVEN ASSIGNED A RWY FROM APCH. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT AND WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 28R, BUT I THINK I WAS NOT EITHER ADVISED OR CERTAIN TO WHICH RWY WE WERE CLRED TO LAND.
