Narrative:
On climb out, 2 loud bangs from engines occurred. Passenger at seat xxf noticed smoke and sparks from l-hand engine (passenger from xxa did not). Cockpit noticed 'power surge' in said engine so requested return to airport. Mechanic could not find problem. New aircraft was located for remainder of flight.
