Narrative:
Location: on localizer GS intercept ILS runway 9R 3000 ft MSL into mia. We, air carrier X, checked in with mia approach 120.5 passing, descending through 11000 ft for 10000 ft MSL prior to worpp on the CYY3 STAR to mia. We were given a heading of 120 degrees to intercept ILS runway 9R localizer into mia, descend to 3000 ft. Level at 3000 ft MSL on localizer and intercepting GS, we thought mia approach had overlooked or forgotten about us and queried him as to cleared the ILS runway 9R approach out of 3000 ft. Mia approach stated that he had cleared us for the runway 9L ILS and had twice tried to contact us 3 times with no response from us but we could continue on the runway 9R ILS. Up until that time, the radio had been relatively clear of chatter. Neither of the other 2 pilots on the flight deck with me monitoring 120.5 heard any calls for air carrier X except for the initial check-in which was repeated verbatim back to the controller.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B727 CREW DSNDING INBOUND FOR ILS TO MIA ASKED IF CLRED FOR APCH. CTLR STATED THAT HE HAD ALREADY GIVEN CLRNC SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT RESPONSE FROM THE CREW.
Narrative: LOCATION: ON LOC GS INTERCEPT ILS RWY 9R 3000 FT MSL INTO MIA. WE, ACR X, CHKED IN WITH MIA APCH 120.5 PASSING, DSNDING THROUGH 11000 FT FOR 10000 FT MSL PRIOR TO WORPP ON THE CYY3 STAR TO MIA. WE WERE GIVEN A HDG OF 120 DEGS TO INTERCEPT ILS RWY 9R LOC INTO MIA, DSND TO 3000 FT. LEVEL AT 3000 FT MSL ON LOC AND INTERCEPTING GS, WE THOUGHT MIA APCH HAD OVERLOOKED OR FORGOTTEN ABOUT US AND QUERIED HIM AS TO CLRED THE ILS RWY 9R APCH OUT OF 3000 FT. MIA APCH STATED THAT HE HAD CLRED US FOR THE RWY 9L ILS AND HAD TWICE TRIED TO CONTACT US 3 TIMES WITH NO RESPONSE FROM US BUT WE COULD CONTINUE ON THE RWY 9R ILS. UP UNTIL THAT TIME, THE RADIO HAD BEEN RELATIVELY CLR OF CHATTER. NEITHER OF THE OTHER 2 PLTS ON THE FLT DECK WITH ME MONITORING 120.5 HEARD ANY CALLS FOR ACR X EXCEPT FOR THE INITIAL CHK-IN WHICH WAS REPEATED VERBATIM BACK TO THE CTLR.
