Narrative:
XA25Z, frequency 127.0, FL310, ZFW. Location: 135 NM west of dfw. Shortly after leveloff at FL310, purser reported smoke in cabin. Flight engineer investigated briefly, said it smelled electrical. Declared emergency. Flight attendants did emergency landing briefing, did electrical smoke/fire checklist. Returned to dfw. Dumped approximately 85000 pounds of fuel and landed at 395000 pounds. Landing uneventful. Normal taxi to gate. Smoke cleared during landing roll. Supplemental information from acn 418249: at no time was there smoke in cockpit.
