Narrative:
Marvall 3 arrival to mem specifies a turn to a 355 degree heading. At 8 DME when landing south, turn point missed and continued inbound on the 232 degree radial. At approximately 4 DME, approach control asked if we were on an assigned heading. At that moment I realized we had overshot the turn point. Control gave us a heading to fly. An uneventful landing followed. I distraction myself by looking at ground landmarks and missed the turn. In the future I will concentrate more on the arrival and do a lot better job updating my progress on arrival stars. Supplemental information from acn 419830: no excuses -- I just did not adequately back up the PF. I knew the turn was there, but since I had not been to mem in a while, I was looking out the window more than I should have. In the future, I will concentrate more on the arrival procedure until it is complete.

Title: A B737 FLC EXPERIENCES A HDG TRACK POS DEV DURING THE STAR ARR PROC INTO MEM, TN.
Narrative: MARVALL 3 ARR TO MEM SPECIFIES A TURN TO A 355 DEG HDG. AT 8 DME WHEN LNDG S, TURN POINT MISSED AND CONTINUED INBOUND ON THE 232 DEG RADIAL. AT APPROX 4 DME, APCH CTL ASKED IF WE WERE ON AN ASSIGNED HDG. AT THAT MOMENT I REALIZED WE HAD OVERSHOT THE TURN POINT. CTL GAVE US A HDG TO FLY. AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG FOLLOWED. I DISTR MYSELF BY LOOKING AT GND LANDMARKS AND MISSED THE TURN. IN THE FUTURE I WILL CONCENTRATE MORE ON THE ARR AND DO A LOT BETTER JOB UPDATING MY PROGRESS ON ARR STARS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 419830: NO EXCUSES -- I JUST DID NOT ADEQUATELY BACK UP THE PF. I KNEW THE TURN WAS THERE, BUT SINCE I HAD NOT BEEN TO MEM IN A WHILE, I WAS LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW MORE THAN I SHOULD HAVE. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL CONCENTRATE MORE ON THE ARR PROC UNTIL IT IS COMPLETE.
