Narrative:
We landed in mia to get water for aircraft. A passenger in the coach cabin refused to turn off her cell phone. She struck a flight attendant when asked to turn off phone. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states that the aircraft had departed from haiti and there is no water available for the lavatories in haiti. In addition, there was apparently a leak in the galley and the water had drained out. This was the reason for the landing in mia. It would normally have taken a short time to accomplish this, but because of the problem with the passenger striking the flight attendant when he requested that she not use the cell phone and the subsequent delay to remove her from the aircraft, the delay was extensive.

Title: FLT ATTENDANT RPT REGARDING AN ACFT WHICH LANDED SHORT OF DEST TO TAKE WATER ABOARD FOR LAVATORIES. WHILE ON THE GND A PAX STRUCK A FLT ATTENDANT WHEN PAX WAS ASKED TO NOT USE THE CELL PHONE.
Narrative: WE LANDED IN MIA TO GET WATER FOR ACFT. A PAX IN THE COACH CABIN REFUSED TO TURN OFF HER CELL PHONE. SHE STRUCK A FLT ATTENDANT WHEN ASKED TO TURN OFF PHONE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES THAT THE ACFT HAD DEPARTED FROM HAITI AND THERE IS NO WATER AVAILABLE FOR THE LAVATORIES IN HAITI. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS APPARENTLY A LEAK IN THE GALLEY AND THE WATER HAD DRAINED OUT. THIS WAS THE REASON FOR THE LNDG IN MIA. IT WOULD NORMALLY HAVE TAKEN A SHORT TIME TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, BUT BECAUSE OF THE PROB WITH THE PAX STRIKING THE FLT ATTENDANT WHEN HE REQUESTED THAT SHE NOT USE THE CELL PHONE AND THE SUBSEQUENT DELAY TO REMOVE HER FROM THE ACFT, THE DELAY WAS EXTENSIVE.
