Narrative:
After exiting runway 9L at mia and receiving taxi clearance, we proceeded toward the northwest corner of the remote terminal parking ramp. It was at night and this portion of the ramp is very dark. The captain was taxiing under guidance of a marshaller with lighted wands. Upon entering the ramp area the right propeller struck an unlighted baggage loader that was parked on the ramp. Approximately 18 inches of each of the 4 tips were sheared off. It was not known at the time to the crew what had happened. The aircraft was parked and the passenger were deplaned in a normal manner. Upon engine shutdown, I looked back toward the right engine and saw the damaged propeller blades. Contributing factors: the baggage loader is painted dark blue and has no reflectors or lights on it. The ramp area is poorly lighted in general, however, new and brighter lights have begun to be installed. (This ramp improvement has been ongoing for quite some time.)
