ZOB gave us (air carrier X) FL230 en route climb. (Female voice.) about the time we leveled at FL230, ZOB asked 'verify level FL220.' (male voice.) we responded 'no,' then received clearance back to FL220. We read back climb clearance to FL230. If that wasn't correct we would expect a call back 'no, FL220.'
