Narrative:
Landing runway 21R, no recent preceding traffic, captain (me) flying. At 200 ft AGL, encountered unrpted brief moderate turbulence causing large aileron corrections to counter. At approximately 50 ft AGL, moderate to severe turbulence again encountered. Go around initiated with aircraft touching down briefly after go around started. Returned for second approach, landing was uneventful. No apparent meteorological conditions to explain our turbulence. Wind was 230 degrees at 10 KTS. No reports of turbulence both before and after our go around. A B747-400 was parked or positioning to park at a gate at the international terminal. Per a phone call to dtw tower, it was rptedly at idle power. Its exhaust, in this location, goes in the direction of the short final approach end of runway 21R.

Title: B757 CREW EXECUTED A GAR AFTER ENCOUNTERING MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 21R AT DTW.
Narrative: LNDG RWY 21R, NO RECENT PRECEDING TFC, CAPT (ME) FLYING. AT 200 FT AGL, ENCOUNTERED UNRPTED BRIEF MODERATE TURB CAUSING LARGE AILERON CORRECTIONS TO COUNTER. AT APPROX 50 FT AGL, MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB AGAIN ENCOUNTERED. GAR INITIATED WITH ACFT TOUCHING DOWN BRIEFLY AFTER GAR STARTED. RETURNED FOR SECOND APCH, LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL. NO APPARENT METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS TO EXPLAIN OUR TURB. WIND WAS 230 DEGS AT 10 KTS. NO RPTS OF TURB BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER OUR GAR. A B747-400 WAS PARKED OR POSITIONING TO PARK AT A GATE AT THE INTL TERMINAL. PER A PHONE CALL TO DTW TWR, IT WAS RPTEDLY AT IDLE PWR.
