Narrative:
We were given last min vector across localizer for traffic separation behind a heavy DC10. With all the zig-zagging we were doing, the captain was trying to stay a little above the path of the dc-10. I had said watch your altitude and tapped on the controls twice and after the third time the captain replied he was staying above the DC10's path that appeared very close to ours. No comments were made from approach but we were very close to 300 ft off our altitude. We were then cleared for the visual behind the DC10 and landed without any occurrences.

Title: CAPT OF A CARGO B727 STAYED 300 FT ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT DURING FINAL TO AVOID POSSIBLE WAKE TURB FROM A DC10 WHICH HE WAS FOLLOWING ON FINAL. ATC DID NOT COMMENT AND SUBSEQUENTLY CLRED HIM FOR A VISUAL APCH.
