Narrative:
On go around at dca, we were not given altitude or heading/course information and we were given confusing instructions on subsequent approach. What follows is description of the basic incident. A dash 8 commuter jet was landed on runway 21 at dca ahead of my B737 on approach to runway 18 (potomac river visual). So close were both aircraft that I (captain) advanced throttles for go around as dca tower issued directive to go around. I think I came way too close to the dash 8 on my go around and want NASA to kindly look into this. Further, it is my perception that there is a conspicuous effort to 'squeeze in' more takeoffs and lndgs at all east coast airports which are already too congested.

Title: B737 FLC INITIATED GAR AT DCA JUST PRIOR TO TWR INSTRUCTIONS TO GO AROUND.
Narrative: ON GAR AT DCA, WE WERE NOT GIVEN ALT OR HDG/COURSE INFO AND WE WERE GIVEN CONFUSING INSTRUCTIONS ON SUBSEQUENT APCH. WHAT FOLLOWS IS DESCRIPTION OF THE BASIC INCIDENT.
