Narrative:
During engine start, engine stopped and shut down by itself. Tried restart, noted engine shutoff valve didn't cycle with start lever movement. Cycled appropriate circuit breakers and it worked ok. (Aircraft had been on ground overnight in single digit temperatures). Verified by maintenance as ok. However, flight returned to gate due to failure of pitot heater off light to extinguish when power switches turned on.
