Narrative:
Some en route icing (but deice was effective. On landing with windshield slightly obscured from deice fluid. That did not have much effect on the incident). I was at about 30 ft AGL and under 100 ft from runway threshold. I am not sure why this happened as my speed was about 100 mph. I added some power and started a slight flare. I contacted the ground with the mains at about 15 ft from the runway. The nose gear touched about 5 ft. There was a small snowbank. The main came through fine, but the drag link on the nose gear failed. The nose gear retracted and the gear doors closed. The nose settled to the runway and the propellers struck the pavement. Damage was minimal. In talking with lcls they said the wind could be tricky. Although wind was slight, I may have had some low level windshear. That would explain abrupt settling with the small power reduction.

Title: BE58 PLT LANDS SHORT AT SPIRIT LAKE, IA, RESULTING IN COLLAPSE OF NOSE GEAR.
Narrative: SOME ENRTE ICING (BUT DEICE WAS EFFECTIVE. ON LNDG WITH WINDSHIELD SLIGHTLY OBSCURED FROM DEICE FLUID. THAT DID NOT HAVE MUCH EFFECT ON THE INCIDENT). I WAS AT ABOUT 30 FT AGL AND UNDER 100 FT FROM RWY THRESHOLD. I AM NOT SURE WHY THIS HAPPENED AS MY SPD WAS ABOUT 100 MPH. I ADDED SOME PWR AND STARTED A SLIGHT FLARE. I CONTACTED THE GND WITH THE MAINS AT ABOUT 15 FT FROM THE RWY. THE NOSE GEAR TOUCHED ABOUT 5 FT. THERE WAS A SMALL SNOWBANK. THE MAIN CAME THROUGH FINE, BUT THE DRAG LINK ON THE NOSE GEAR FAILED.
