Narrative:
On takeoff run I experienced a failure of the left tire which in turn led to the failure of the left gear which eventually separated from the aircraft during the subsequent skid. This led to my eventually departing the runway to the left approximately 1800 ft after the gear/tire failure which occurred at a speed of approximately 90 KTS. Preflight inspection did not show any abnormalities to the aircraft. The aircraft came to rest within an airplane's length to the side of the runway at which point the propellers were feathered and the fuel and electrical system shut down. There was no damage to the airport property from this incident.
