Narrative:

On approach experienced failed right main down and locked green light. Ran all procedures, consulted with maintenance to no avail. Very sure it was an indication problem only. Declared emergency anyway, prepared cabin, had passenger brace on landing. Uneventful landing. Here's the mistake -- I taxied clear of the active before getting the gear pinned. I should have stopped on the runway and set the brake without taxiing clear, but I just couldn't bear to keep the runway closed that long for what was clearly an indication problem. Maintenance swapped out the panel mounted gear control box (gear handle) and swung the gear. Operations check ok!
