Narrative:
Left main landing gear indicator light failed to illuminate green. We accomplished the appropriate cockpit procedure and made a normal landing (without the green light). The gear area was inspected, gear pinned, and the airplane towed to the gate. Due to the abnormal gear indication, an emergency was declared with ATC. After extensive vectoring to put us at the end of the traffic stream for ATC convenience, fuel was a concern to the point where we had to declare a low fuel emergency and proceed direct to the airport. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the probable cause of the left main landing gear green light failure was the landing gear down lock sensor. The reporter said maintenance had not actually proved it was the down lock sensor, but suspected this was the culprit. The reporter said maintenance dragged the airplane off in order to jack it up and swing the gear. The reporter stated maintenance has not reported the final fix to any of the crew.

Title: A B757-200 ON APCH AT 1500 FT DECLARED AN EMER DUE TO THE L MAIN LNDG GEAR GREEN SAFE LIGHT NOT ILLUMINATED. SUSPECT DOWN LOCK SENSOR.
Narrative: L MAIN LNDG GEAR INDICATOR LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE GREEN. WE ACCOMPLISHED THE APPROPRIATE COCKPIT PROC AND MADE A NORMAL LNDG (WITHOUT THE GREEN LIGHT). THE GEAR AREA WAS INSPECTED, GEAR PINNED, AND THE AIRPLANE TOWED TO THE GATE. DUE TO THE ABNORMAL GEAR INDICATION, AN EMER WAS DECLARED WITH ATC. AFTER EXTENSIVE VECTORING TO PUT US AT THE END OF THE TFC STREAM FOR ATC CONVENIENCE, FUEL WAS A CONCERN TO THE POINT WHERE WE HAD TO DECLARE A LOW FUEL EMER AND PROCEED DIRECT TO THE ARPT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF THE L MAIN LNDG GEAR GREEN LIGHT FAILURE WAS THE LNDG GEAR DOWN LOCK SENSOR.
